External
Basics
For applications which already have an existing server based user authentication method, the External authentication flow allows the existing login credentials to be used to authenticate a user with the MILK API. The external servers issue signed access tokens, which can be used to access resources on the MILK API.
For details on the token format, see Token Format.
For information on how to use a token once issued, see Using Tokens.
Token Types
There are 2 types of externally issued tokens:
- Application Tokens - used to access application scoped resources.
- User Tokens - used to access user or application scoped resources.
